Hi there,

New here (Just bought a nice 1999 Runner last week). I really want to take the running boards off but I have the SR5 with the black brushguards. I found the correct part number for matching mudflaps for the front but Damn It the left side is discontinued!!!!!! Wouldn't you think it is like shoes and one is less than useless? Part numbers are:

PT-413-359666-DF
PT-413-359666-PF

Anyone have any suggestions for a source that might have some (I tried ToyotaPartsZone and Olathe Toyota) or an aftermarket option that looks good?

I should say I THINK I found the right part number. It is entirely possible I didn't. Any correction on that would also be appreciated greatly!

I'd try a local wrecking yard. 1999 model is old enough.

Hi guys,

Thanks for the information. It looks like the ones Turbo8 mentions are for an SR5 with no flares. I talked to a local dealer and it looks like those part numbers are right. Driver's side seems to be if not totally discontinued, "on it's way out the door." It's definitely frustrating.

so your saying those mud flaps are not available? I too am looking to put front mud flaps on once I remove the running boards on my 1996 4Runner. My other option is to replace the two front flares then put some 3M clear protectant on the side to protect the paint from rock chips.

Had another conversation with (an actually really nice and helpful) person at Camelback Toyota in Phoenix. Totally unavailable. Cannot be found. Made of unobtainium. So the next question is: is there a good set of molded aftermarket ones that could go on there and look decent. Used or wrecking yard is a possibility but sounds pretty hit or miss. I'd be interested to know of/see pictures of some aftermarket installations.

Trim the front running board flares to the length you want. They are riveted to the running boards but come off easy enough. What i dont like about the flaps you are looking for is that they attach to the lower fender. If yours is anything like mine, the lower bolts under the rockers have rusted thru. The mud flaps would bend my fender in no time at all. I used Monstaliner on my rockers just in case anyone was wondering. Great stuff and durable.

That is actually not a bad idea at all! I may do something very very much like that. Thanks. Also I do like the idea of that monsterliner stuff. Around here rust isn't much of a problem though (southern Arizona).

yea, the liner stuff is a good idea. My brother did that to his truck and too take it a step further, line the inside threshold as well..

Here is what I did with mine. In one of the pics you can see how I attached the running boards front trim to the fender flare.



The best part about Monstaliner is that it has texture without being sandpaper rough. This will be the only stuff I use in the future.
