Levoc Shift knob..any ins.tips?

I recieved my Levoc Shift knob in the mail today..and intend on installing it within the next few days when i get some time..those of who who already have one..i know butnut and SanDiegoRunner each do...do you have any installation tips for me before i take a crack at it? I remember SanDiego saying the kit that came with his wasn't necessary...and words of wisdom from you guys? Thanks

My advise would be to set the shifter in NEUTRAL. This will give you room to work. Disconnect the battery (you'll be cutting/splicing the OD wire). They give a quick connect/disconnect hook up for the wire. I used a good butt connector as this was intended as a permanant upgrade for me. I only had to trim the rubber boot that covers the lower part of the shifter. Cut and test fit for a perfect fit. If you cut too much, you'll have a ugly gap. Your Levoc should have an 'oval' hole to fit the Toyota shaft. Just check to verify you got the right shifter style. It's not too hard to install. Good luck.

hey c2 sorry for the late reply. i think the reason why i wasnt able to use the "kit" that came with the levoc was because i couldnt comprehend the directions it came with. it totally confused me. so i did without it. i agree with butnut about having the gear in neutral. its alot easier to work with. if i were as mechanically inclined as butnut this mod wouldn't of been such a pain. just follow butnuts directions and you will be ok. oh yeah, you should probably disconnect the battery. i didnt and now the lights on my D-rive and R-everse dont light up anymore.

Hey SDR, that sounds wierd. There is a single 194 bulb (like corner 'wedge' bulb) that fits in a socket under the PRND12 see through panel. Maybe something is stuck under there that is blocking your D and R indicators? Unscrew that panel and check. I had a spare blue condom I put over the 194 bulb, and now I have matching blue PRND12 indicators...matches my ISSPRO vac gauge. Just need the reverse Indi faces now.

The gas station down the street from my house sells condoms from the bathroom for 75 cents.
Couldn't resist.
I usually see them in the shops they sell the guages.

A speed shop here sold a pack with 4 colors, 2 of each color. I used 'em all when I was trying to change my dash color before I got the Indi's. Had to cut and glue because they were made for the 194's and dash bulbs are way smaller. I had a spare blue condom from my ISSPRO vac gauge. They sent me a replacement gauge and I took the condom off the bulb, and put it in my tranny indicator. I know Autometer sells colored condoms, don't know what they fit though...
