ISR Mod tape

So I decided to tape the slot in my intake silencer in order to get a feel for how it would sound without the silencer.
I used foil duct tape. Not the usual duct tape, but the mylar foil tape. Super thin, super shiny (Yes, I'm aware of how bad an idea it is to place objects inside your engine's intake, it just temporary ).

Anyway, After reinstalling the silencer I could not tell any significant difference in engine sound.
My first question is, would there be any difference in sound in a true ISR mod with an aluminum pipe vs. a silencer with a taped slot? Is it possible that the sound waves pass right through the tape and get cancelled out anyway?
Secondly, can you even hear the difference with an ISR mod on a supercharged engine? When I step on the gas, all I hear is that wonderful SC gear whine.
Keep in mind I do not have the deckplate mod. Everything I've read points to that having zero benefit to a SC engine. Then again the ISR probably has none as well.
I had a Neuspeed cone filter intake on my VR6 V-dub, and that sounded fantastic when the pedal was floored. It gave a real growl when the RPMs were building and let out a wail when it was wound up. I was kind of hoping for some growl.

Try opening up your air box lid and leaving it open. You'll get some sort of an induction sound that way, and it's just about as effective as the deck plate mod/ an aftermarket CAI.

Oh and don't worry, it won't come in contact with the hood or anything.

I did something similar back in 02 when I had my first 5VZFE (Tacoma). I liked it, so I went with the full-blown set-up.

Do you have an O Gasket? If you need one to compliment your intake mods you can order one from my site. I think I have over 50 happy customers now.

You heard wrong. Not that you wrongly heard it, if indeed you didn't. But rather, what you heard was wrong.

Not to mention having no real relevance to this thread.

Newbies...

He always goes too far and looks like a douche. You should know that by now, Alex.

Smart guys don't stop at being smart, they have to bully people into thinking they are smart. You see it once, you see it a million times.
