this leaves alot of room for different measurements dude. you might have to supply pics and put arrows on the points you want measure between. I can think of about 5 ways I could measure each item and get five different values for each.

they dont need to be exact, just close.

1. lower contol arm mounts, lets just say center of each mounting bolt, from pass. side to drivers side, on the front of the ifs.

2.well, i need the whole length, dont know how else to put it.

3. i'll rephrase it and say distance between the two, from where they mount, again, lets go from the center of the bolts.

thats about the best i can describe it, and like i said, it does not need to be exact. just try to get within, lets say, 2".

I'll measure mine tomorrow for you. I'll be replacing the steering rack bushings and the front sway bushings with poly greasables so I'll be in there anyway.

I'll try to get them in the morning because I still have to install the poly bushing on the rear swaybar. no really, I swear, I'll get the measurements, and the check is in the mail... btw, it looks like you are looking into designing one of those drop cross member things that you see on the ifs of some lifts to get more than 3" or so... oh yea, what does "btt" stand for?

hey, its no problem. and no, i am not going to design an ifs cross brace. i am going to be "attempting" to graft the 3rd gen/tacoma ifs setup to the front and rear of a tracker. so i need some dimensions to figure if it is close enough for me to do it, or if i am wasting my time and should just go solid front and rear.

o, and btt stands for "bump to top".

Re: i need some measurements from 3rd gen runner owners and 4wd Taco owners

All are approx.

1. ~23" {center-to-center of eccentric bolts, not hubs}

2. ~11.5" {center-to-center of eccentric bolts of kower control arm, let me know if you need the upper too, however I think they are the same}

3. ~18" {center of upper pin to center of lower eccentric bolt}
[/quote]

Tracker!!?? WFT?

Hope that helps, keep me posted and ask me for anything else if you need it.

ah, thank you so much. i really apreciate it.

from the looks of it, i will be able to do this, if i can get a hold of 2 complete ifs assembly's. thats a BIG if.

but yes, a tracker. i know it sounds funny, but i want to be completely differrent on the trail. i figure a fully independent tracker on 35's with a 5mge powering it would be a little bit different from everyone else. but hey, thats just me.

i figure if i get the total chaos uper arms, 10 inch travel sway-a-way coilovers, and fab up a new longer lower mount, i can pull almost 12" of vertical wheel travel, so it would be pretty crazy.

but like i said, there is a big if involved in this.

and yes, i am keeping my 83 for a daily driver/weekend warrior.

.
no prob, any other measures needed let me know.

You plan on doing alot of fender trim or removing them completely, right? Because I don't see fitting 35" rubbers and getting 12" of travel on a tracker unless you have such a big lift that, even at full flex, the tires never come close to entering the wheelwell. Just wondering. I'd love to see pics posted as you are prgressing here. So it's going to be a Trackoma?

trackoma, that is awesome!

oh yes, metal will be removed. lots of metal

so far, it will all work on paper. but getting ahold of the suspnsions is going to be really difficult. i have called every junkyard i can think of, except for yota yard. that is tommarow.

if i cant get them, then it will just have to ride on 80 series axles. not that that would be bad.

Sounds like a cool project. Not sure why you'd use IFS instead of solid axle, but hey, it's still cool!

I seem to remember somebody here installing some ats racing uppers and they still had the stock ones laying around. they may be for a 4runner though. of course they could have sold them by now too. just wish I could remember where I saw that.

Plus there's alot more ingenuity involved in this sort of project than throwing on a solid axle. More to be proud of once your finsihed.
