Exclamation How much $ for a diagnosis? HELP!!

I've had nothing but problems since I got my car back after my head gasket recall.

1. I had a miss.
2. My timing was so far advanced when I got it back. After doing a tuneup it would barely idle. We cranked the timing back and it won't retard any more than about 15 degrees advanced.
3. I have a hesitation when cold when first accelerating.
4. Now my idle speed varies sometimes.

I want to just take it to another dealership.

I just want it to run like it did when I took it in for the recall.

How much should a dealership charge to diagnose my problems?
I was quoted $67.95 and wasn't sure if that was too much or not.

Please help. Any other ideas would be great.

I'd go back to who did the work and tell them that it ran fine before they touched it, now it dosen't. If they try to charge you extra to fix their error call the national Toyota customer service hotline 1-800 number. I don't know what it is but I can find it in a while if you need it.

Take it back!!

Take it back to the Stealership!

This is a toyota 1-800-number (I called it about Factory Repair Manuals) 1-800-622-2033

They should know the number to get in touch with!

Make them fix it, cause obviously somethings wrong. Did you check all your vacume lines.

Screw that dude, It's not a question of money. If they messed it up then they fix it.

Thanks alot for the number. I finally called the dealership that did the work and I am going to just bring it by whenever I am in town again. If everthing isn't completely fixed, then I will call that number and give them a piece of my mind.

And yes I have checked my vacuum lines.

What do you mean about the timing? If you are saying it is too advanced and you can't turn it back any further, then is it possible that the distributor is out by one tooth? I can't say I am familiar with the Toyota in this regard as I have not had mine apart but on a Chevy or Ford the distributor drops in and the teeth engage the gear on the camshaft. If you don't have it timed right it won't run properly. If this is the case, then you can pull the distributor, turn it a bit and slide it back in or you can just move each of the plug wires one spot over. You just have to figure out whether to move them all ahead or all back one spot.
