I was just wondering, I have 1990 4Runner with 270,800 miles on it. it has the rust on the rear wheel wells, and on the tail gate. If i keep up on the mantiance, such as oil changes diff fluids and try to keep the rust to a mimumin how long do you think it will last? I'm hopeing for 350,000 miles.

Also do you know of any really cheep ways to upgrade the power. I need to get a new exhust. i saw an artical about putting a 3.0 pipe on. Will that reallt help with the 2.4l? Just wondering.

If she is running strong and not leaking any oil by now I think you can atleast get another 60k. Just make sure your timing is good and dont drive it like you stole it. Even if it does go another 4banger is easy and cheap. As for power, ide do a 2.25 catback exuast, trd cam gear, and good sparkplugs and wires. I wouldnt try and improve an engine that old but so much. Also, I would stay away from an engine flush. It might cause the sludge that keeping your engine sealed up from leaking. I wouldnt worry about the rust seeing as cheap 89-94 trucks are going for. Even the taco's prices are falling below the 10's now.

Must agree on the price of 89-95 pickups, I got mine with 138,000 on it for about 2800, changed the timing chain, guides, waterpump, oil pump, etc and it runs like a champ. Now for it to get warm

i went shooting this past weekend, and met the local gun club there. i was talking to this guy with a new tacoma 2wheeldrive. he was saying he has a 1985 toyota 2wheel pickup with 967,000 MILES ON IT! OMG! He's done lots of work on it, but i goes to show, cant kill a yota!

I think 350,000 is reasonable. You may want to do more regualr oil changes since you probably have a fair amount of blowby that is contaminating the oil. I'd say its a good time for a compression check, and if all is well, I wouldn't worry a bit about it.
