How hard would it be to fix this?

I have an oil leak (no surprise) and its coming from the front of the block. If this is an SOHC motor, I bet its the gasket that is in between the chain cover and the block. Am I right? If so how hard would it be to replace this with the motor in the truck? This is the only thing that leaks.

its more than likely a seal in the front of the motor. my 86 had an oil leak similar to what you are describing, when we did the head, gaskets etc it still leaked. my mech said it was probably the front seal. i never did get it fixed, just kept a close eye on the oil level and always had some in the rig ready to top things off.

First get the front of the engine as clean as possible so you can see how high up the leak is. Most likely it is the oil seal or it's between the bottom of the head and the top of the cover.
