it is a direct swap if i remember correctly. assuming you find one that was in a rear end collision, or buy it brand new (money++)

It's a direct bolt on. It would be cheaper and better getting a Carbon fiber hood with the hoodscoop from VIS

if my runner was black I would jump all over that cf hood. I wonder how it would look painted to match my runner?

Not neccesarily cheaper. If you find a hood with a scoop from like a junkyard you can easily save a few hundred dollars. You could also just buy the scoop, have it bonded to the original hood and then repainted.

You say buy a hood from VIS...do you have a web site for that?

Just finally went back to Toyota and I am so happy. Sold my 82 toy in 1994. Will never stray again.

No way to bond the hood scoop to an existing hood. The Toyota hood with scoop has a bulge pressed into the center of the hood that the scoop then bolts to. You'd have to get a Toyota hood or the cool one from VIS. I added the hood with scoop for around $800

Hope this helps

Can the carbon fiber one be painted? If so where do we find this VIS company?

yes carbon fiber can be painted, but if you want to paint the entire hood, you're better off going with a stock hood scooped hood. vis is the manufacturer and you can order their parts from just about any import speed shop around...

I'd paint mine, but why do you think it would be better to go with a stock hood scooped hood instead of the carbon one if I'm going to paint it.

I would love to have a hood scoop. I think it's one of the few casmetic things I might do in the future. Thanks for the info, and if I'm not mistaken, here's the part numbers for our vehicles:
96TY4RN4DOE-010C & CH96T4RNOE

I think the first one is without the scoop and the second one is with the scoop.

It would be much cheaper to buy a universal hood scoop and do it yourself. Use a template, cut the hole. Mount the scoop. Then have a shop repaint your hood. Scoops will run you under a $100, so then you are just looking at repainting your hood.

Here are a few scoops that I found in a couple of seconds.

Hood Scoops

Oh yeah, just because it says it's a "no drill" installation doesn't mean it can't be made into a functional scoop.
