Hmm... electric fan

Was browsing through the posts and on an overheating issue there was talk about the electric fan. So I went outside and looked and yup there's one there, funny I hadn't noticed but then again I never heard it running either. I did a little further inspection and noticed the connection was rusted completely off and the fan itself was seized tight. I've driven this daily in both -38F and +102F with and without a towing load and have never had an overheating problem (except for the BHG). How important is this fan? (Ok it's for the A/C, Thanks Robinhood150). Opinions?

The electric fan is for the air conditioner.

Switching fans is fixing the symptom and not the cause.
