Voltage regulator is for??

What type of toggle/switch could I use? Performance Products sells a Toyota OEM fog light switch which mounts to the left of the steering whell and it even lights up. Would that work? What wire would I need to use? Is there an easy way to splice the wire in?

To be honest, I'm not quite sure what the V regulator does. I'd assume it's to limit the voltage the alternator can send to the battery. But if that is so, then it wouldn't limit the current going to the battery. I=P/V, so if the voltage remains constant and the power draw goes up, that is 40w from the DRL, then the current goes up, thus increasing the load on the alternator and engine.

If the voltage regulator does limit the current, then there's no use in getting a high output alternator to run an onboard welder, stereos, or winches.

Please let me know if I'm wrong.
