E-Locker Differential

Can I swap my stock E-locker diff. for an open diff. without having to change the third member?

I don't go offroad and wanted a limited slip for street driving. I have no use for the E-locker basically and want to get rid of it.

I was hoping I could do it simple and not replace the whole third but I guess I will have to if the general consensus is to replace the 3rd.

Hey, I see your in Nashville I'll be happy to take that 3rd off you too.

Seriously though - there's a reason people are clambering all over each other to get that locker off of you. Take a cue and keep it. No, you don't think you need it, but when roads get icy here in TN and you find yourself in a ditch, that locker may be your only way home. LSD's are overrated in trucks.

Yeah, you're right. I didn't think about resale value or icy roads. It's too much of a hassle anyway for me. Also, That would be pretty #$%tty if someone bought the truck and hit the button and nothing happened. I'll just go the regearing route and put some 4.30's in. Thanks for all of the opinions guys.

Axle housings are different....

You cannot simply bolt in an open or limited slip center section into a housing that is configured for the electric locker....

Resale value means squat if you don't find the right person who actually knows what a locker is and wants to use it. If you're marketing toward just the off road crowd, you might be able to get $500 more for the truck, but if you're just going to put up ads in the normal places, nobody will care about the locker. Don't let that be a deciding factor.
