Was driving home from work today with my radio blasting. All of the sudden the radio died, along with the truck.
Lost power completely, and smelled something burning so i pulled into a side road.

Jumped out and made sure nothing was on fire. When my friend arrived we tried to jump off the truck but the cables got hot and turned red???
So i removed the negative cable and charged the battery alone.

After about 5 or 10 minutes i put the cable back on, and then had power to everything again.
Go to start the truck and no juice. Starter didnt even turn it.

To make a long story short i had to end up calling a tow truck. The truck wouldnt go into nuetral even with the ign. switch turned all the way over. So i put the transfer case in between 4L and 4H. So that i could atleast get it on the rollback. Once it was on i put it in 4L again, with the truck in park to be towed. Keep in mind its a flat bad.

Anyways, when we get the truck to my house, the damn selector wouldnt move at all. So i put some muscle into it and snapped it.

So now my truck is ˟˟˟˟ outta luck with a dead starter and broken Xfer case selector rod. Ive come to the conclusion that the starter got stuck trying to start the truck, and i couldnt hear it grinding because of the radio. And that ended up sucking up all the battery power and killing the power to everything inside. But i still have no clue why i cant go into neutral and how to fix the rod.

Anybody know a quick and easy way to fix the rod? would it be possible to just buy a new one?
