Okay, I have a Tercel clinometer that I got from eBay. (No snide remarks, please. It looks okay to me.) I can see I'll have to do a bit of surgery on the case to get it to fit anywhere, but I can't even see where the heck it will go on the dash.

Has anyone mounted one of these on their dash? If so, where? Do you have a pic you can share? Is it in the tech section and I just missed it?

If not, I might get brave and try that in-dash mount that I saw here on the forum; that was a sweet mod. I know I could always punk out and mount it low near the shifter but I'd prefer a higher vantage point for it.

Look on my website in the mods section, and you will see pics of mine mounted to the dash.

Yours is similar though to the 1st gen model, so it will mount differently than mine.
Mine was made for a 2nd gen 4Runner, but an overseas model with right hand drive.

Hmm. I definitely want to measure twice and cut once. Especially if it's gonna be through the dash pad.

For some reason this 4Runner is becoming an obsession.

I set mine in the little depression on the passenger side, about the same place as Corey's but I didn't make a custom bracket. I'll post a pic later when I get home.

I had one of those Tercel meters and also found it difficult to mount anywhere so that it looked goo. I even thought about cutting the "axle" meter part out and mount just the inclinometers. In the end, I could not find a suitable location and ended up selling it.

That, of course, is my fallback. Hell, I might get more than I paid for it.

You mean like "low near the shifter?" Maybe, in a pinch, but I'd prefer a higher vantage point for it.

Generally I only use the altimeter and perhaps the uphill/downhill angle indicator. I don't like the idea of staring at a gauge when I'm on a sideslope. You could also get real creative and put the gauges in an a-pillar gauge pod. Just throwing out ideas. Mine was missing the metal base so I couldn't mount it to the dash without a CB style mount so I chose to put it low. Amaze us with your creativity.

Where's the pic of it under the radio in the dash? I think a 3rd Gen, but would work for us 2nd Genners

Went back to your site to look at yours. I think that the Tercel unit is larger than the 4Runner unit -- I do know the gauges are different -- but the size difference causes a bit more of a headache to mount. I may have to craft a custom case like your installer did in order to get this working right.

Oh well, I have time.
