Ok, I just got my engine rebuilt. I have 162k and would like to have my car better than new.

- Which wear-and-tear parts should I replace/upgrade first? what brand names for strength and durability?
- I want to do some light/medium offroading.
- 4 inch lift a standard?
- 33 tires too much?
- any other suggestions?

Suspension should be first if you still have the original equipment. Many do a combo lift of suspension and body lift to get to 4". Read up on the Tundra lift for more info.

i don't know if anyone has ever run 33's on a 3rd gen. you might want to search and find out.

yeah... search for "Tundra TRD Lift" and you'll find tons of info.

to spell it out for ya, a 2.0" to 2.5" suspension lift for the front with a 2.5"-3.5" lift for the rear along with a 1" to 2" body lift is common to run either 285/75-16 or 305/70-16's (both are metric 33's that will fit your 16" wheels)

so the tundra's got the similar/same suspension as the runner? I'm also trying to avoid 'sagging' as much as possible. not sure if I want to go with a body lift.. pretty ugly, but 2" wouldn't be bad. 4" suspension lift sound about right, though.

4" is too much on the CV angles up front. You'll also have trouble matching the rear to get 4" of lift just from a suspension lift.

You'd do much better to do 2-3 inches with suspension and 1-2" on the body lift as a combo.
That way you won't have any CV issues like you would with 4" of pure suspension lift as Edwin mentioned.

why lift at all if you will be doing light-moderate offroading?

It seems many people just do it for the looks nowadays. My basically stock Runner does great for light-moderate offroading. But if you are going to lift then the Tundra/OME seems the way to go.
