Bal. probs w/ProComps 10" RockCrawlers
Ever since I had my 35X12.5 Wild Country TXR tires mounted on my brand new 10" wide with 3 3/4 back spacing Pro Comp Rock Crawlers I have had balance issues. I can physically see the rear tires/wheels wobble driving down the road. I can feel the vibration in the front & rear. I have taken it back to the installers shop twice and with no luck and then to another installers shop. I still have the physical wobble & vibration. Whats the deal? Anyone else having these problems with the 10" wide PC RC's? Help?

I bought my tires at Sam's club. (only 33's though). For 9.99 each for mounting and balancing, I get unlimited rotations and balancing. That's right, BALANCING TOO! I just discovered this when I took it there for a rotation.
I actually had a set of steelies ready to go, I was not overly impressed with the quality of the wheel though since I had an opportunity to really look them over. Anyway, I changed my mind and got the MT Classic II's. With the issues coming up about balancing problems, I'm feeling better and better about this decision.

BBB- I've got the Tech 1's and have never had a balancing problems, I'm only running 33's but I think Christian (<96 Runner>) had the same problem and was forced to switch back to stock rims...sounds like Tech 1's are better on the balancing front.
Anyway, hope it all works out for ya!

No switching back for me....
I hear some of you saying you switched back. I do not have that option nor want to use it. I sold my five spoke alloys and have no rims other than my factory spare & a spare from the alloy set. I think the balancing got worse after that last road trip. I never heard the damage occur but one of my back up lamps lenses were trashed. I am assuming a weight flew off hitting that but do not know for sure. I plan on rotating the tires to see if the wobble/vibe goes to the front. If it does then I will then know to have all of the wheels once again balanced but using the glue on inner wheel weights and not the tap ons. It makes me ill when driving my rig having to feel the vibration. I know my rig just does not do that and for it to be doing it that pisses me off. Makes me want to get AGGRESSIVE treaded tires and atleast vibe in style.

I've got a set of the 7 X 16" steelies made by US Wheel that appear to be the same wheel as the rockcrawlers. I had my tires mounted aad balanced by a local guy on a simple spin balancer and they're smooth all the way up to 90mph.
If you can see a wobble in your tires or wheels no amount of balancing is going to make things better. You need to find out which is out of true, the tire or the wheel, and get it replaced...

got the procomp rock crawler simulated beadlock steel rims(15x10, with 33x12.5 MT/R's), thought I had the same problem, but then realized it was just all the mud that was stuck up in them(duh). I just keep them clean and I have not had any more problems with them.

I have no experience with these wheels, but I have seen pictures of them. They basically look like plan steel wheels to me. This would lead me to believe that they are not set-up to be run on Toyota's since they are hubcentic.
Again, I'm not sure, but this might have something to do with it if these wheels are not designed that way.

I just purchased a set of Rock Crawler Street locks, 16x8 and put BFG Muds, 285/75/16 on them. I don't know if mine are Tech1 or Procomp but I'm going to assume they are Procomp since I ordered them from my local 4Wheel Parts store?
They did the balance and mount there when they came in and I do have a slight wobble in my steering wheel. I can see it at certain speeds if I let og fo the wheel so it doesn't have me holding it from the slight shake it gets. It's not bad at all.
