avg. 22mpg on last tank!

Im not sure if this is normal but seems eveyrone complains about the 3.0 gas milage. I filled up with Citgo 87, and it was a mix of city/highway driving. I was suprised when I got 200miles on a half tank so I decided I would avg it out when i was empty. Ended up with 22.4 mpg.

I usually get around 180 on half of a tank - mixed city and highway.

Thats not bad at all. I think running some techron additive a few weeks ago may have helped out a bit.

My 95 3.0 5sp gets about 21 in town. Road trips have been up to 24 mpg. Town mileage depends on how I drive (away from the lights and up hills).

yeah on the tank before last i got 300 miles or so and still had a couple gallons of gas left...i've got a 18 gallon tank... so about 18 MPG. i wasn't trying to save gas either. anyways, on my last fill up, i went about 180 miles. i can't figure out if i wrote my mileage down wrong or did the math wrong or what. that doesn't seem right. except during that tank of gas i did go offroading in the snow. spinning tires and whatnot most of the time, for about 2-3 hours. so i figure thats where i lost my gas. oh and all that is with my hubs locked and about 250 lbs in the back. i've got them unlocked now and im gonna see how that changes my mileage.

ps. last summer i was getting 350+ miles per tank, including some 4 wheelin'

I put in a tank of premium and some Techron and got 21.0 on my 3.0 + 5speed. But then took a trip down to Alpine and got 17 going uphill and holding between 70 & 75. Got 16.5 coming back (downhill) but battling a West Texas Sandstorm. I'm going to test another tank of premium.

ok, well i know i dont count, since i only have a lowly turbo 22re, but i average 20 mpg during the week, which is one tank, then about 12 on the weekend, another tank.... so what, 16-17 mpg? not too shabby for a heavy right footer... and an auto

Are you sure you didn't forget to reset the trip meter on the last tank? Those numbers are somewhat hard to believe

I guess its just how it worked out. I usually get like 16-18mpg. I also didnt floor it once. I just granny shifted. I was basically trying to see if my driving habits were too harsh for my gas consumption.
