My buddy's work truck is sagging pretty bad and the ride is a joke. We've over loaded it on a daily basis and its really time for a spring fix. I'd like to upgrade instead of replace oem. Will a 4wd fit and give me better load capacity? I've looked into bump stops and helper springs too, whats the biggist baddist option?

Deaver or another leaf spring company can build you a set for your purposes for $600 or less dropped at your door! no leafs made for our trucks are made to be loaded continually especially over loaded!! you can call them and ask for up to like 400lbs over stock with an added 30lbs on the driver side to compensate for the fuel tank and get what you want!!!

I did this my self and after a lot of searching I ended up calling Deaver and they built me a set that I am totally satisfied with!!!

as a mater of fact I put around 1100 lbs of cinder blocks in as well as my usual tool box and it didn't even hit the bump stops the whole way, of course I was a little easier on it but that is expected!!!

Thanks eddie, i looked at the springs yesterday and their sitting concave to normal, they actually bow slightly up in the middle. I live in hawaii though so we'll see what's available at a good price [I]after[I] shipping...

Yeah TRY ALCAN see what they say... they will not charge any more than the actual shipping and cost of springs and I have been really happy with mine!!!!

I thought it would be easy to find a good video or write up of front strut assembly swap out but i can't. What has to come off for me to get the strut out? I'll keep searching but if you know a good diy...

That one is fairly easy just the strut has to come off! and there are three bolts on the bottom of the lower a frame that go to the lower ball joint, I had to those take out to be able to get the strut out and I had to use something pry the lower a-frame down to get the new strut in... A long some thing is easier!!!
Be sure to use some good jack stands or blocks on the cross member!

when you say strut I thought you realized a strut is a coil spring wrapped around a shock all one unit!!!! if you just want to change the shock then you will need a spring compressor to compress the spring and change the shock.
but yea it is all one piece and you would be well off to either get a new set of coil overs or take the ones you have to a shop and have them swap shocks in them, the spring compressors can be very dangerous if not used properly!!
Wheelersoffroad.com is an affordable place to get OME coil overs and a little shop that a lot of guys like to support...

but yeah it comes out all in one piece so then you have to deal eith it once it is out!!!

Gotcha now, I did mean strut assembly, spring and strut. So I wouldn't have to touch the springs if i just swap out the whole thing... cool

those coild overs are pricey! shooting for slightly better than stock.

actually I am really not sure about the 2x4 not used to that question I have a 4x4 and I know they are different!!!
