97 runner suspension

97 runner suspension
I ahve a 97 4runner that has some suspension probs. The suspension seems to be sagging even w/o a trailer or anything. Btwn the rear axle and the rubber stoppers there is only and inch or 2. Is that normal? Because the distance btwn the 2 is so small, the supension bottoms out often (Very rough over speed bumps.) So what i want to know is what is some cheap suspension yall reccomend for me to buy to keep my runner from sagging? Do i need new coils and shocks? or just shocks, or just coils? thanks
btw this suspension set-up will be for road use with little offroading(as in driving on rough roads at the farm) i dont use it for wheeling or hardcore offroading as it is 2WD

First determine whether your shocks are worn or not. Your suspension should not be bottoming out all the time. However, there was a recall on the rear suspension for 3rd gens. Springs will sag over time, depends on how many miles you have on them. If you want something that rides nice, I would go with Old Man Emus, which can be purchased at www.sonroansteel.com or www.wheelersoffroad.com.
Personally, I have the bamachem lift which I highly recommend. Not too tall, but just enough. www.4rnr.net
P.S. welcome to YT!!!!!!!!!!

how would i determine if its worn? i would guess it is since is saggs so much just sittin there. I havent heard anything about the recall? possible not to late to get that fixed by toyota? OME suspensio looks great but its pretty expensive. It looks like it designed for pretty hardcore offroading, or am i mistaken. I just want as comfortable of a ride of the road. How do i determine if i need coils and shocks or just shocks, or just coils? If its possible to just buy and install part of the OME kit(as in just shocks all around, or just coils all around) then that would be not soo expensive. Maybe suspension is all this expensive and ill just hafta bite the bullet and buy it? thanks for the help and welcome

bad shocks shouldn't cause sag - they are there to dampen jounce, not carry the weight of the truck.
My 96 has air backs inside the rear springs. I really like them.

If you have the money but the downey 2" springs, they will give you a good ride height and they shouldn't sag over time. However you might need to buy new shocks due to an increase in spring rate.
