22RE and 22R Head swap...compatible years?

It won't work if it's an '84. You want an 85-95 head. IIRC, the deck height on the earlier models are slightly taller.

You know....You had posted that in an earlier thread in the classified section....I was just hoping it was a typo...lol
That sucks....So now back to the drawing board....I need to find a head for the 85-95 22R/RE...Does it matter what motor it comes off of? Or is it just as long as it's between those years? and why is that anyway? Is it more than just the deck height or is it the shape of the exhaust ports as well? questions, questions, questions...lol:pat:

You should be fine as long as the head falls between those years. I've been told that the lower EFI plenum won't bolt on w/o mods on the earlier heads as well. I think you're right about the exhaust ports too.

Thanks for your help Arnold...So basically I should really be looking for an exact year swap....But as long as I stick between those years I should be fine, like you said....
