i'm just curious, what is reasonable here, cuz i think i should be getting more than i am, its a 4 banger fer cryin out loud, i get about 16 to 17 mpg., .... i feel i should get more

huh, i really thought it should be better but maybe not, i know the 2wd gets way better mileage i had an 88, and got around 30 with it.
i guess the nice part is even in the winter when i was in 4wd the mileage stayed pretty much the same

Hmm, I could add some input here but it'd be all in KMs and litres
So how do you guys all work out your 'mileage'?
I've been thinking of installing a low-fuel light so I can get a more exact measurement...
Dave.

well i already got manual hubs, so thats out, already changed all fluids, i guess i'm just gonna have to live with it..
as for the fellow who asked about measuring mileage, its pretty easy for me, cuz my gas gauge doesn't work for one reason or another, and consequently i keep track of how far i go between filling up. cuz gettin stranded is no fun especially when you run outta gas for instance, last time i went
214 miles
divide that by the number of gallons of fuel it takes to return to full(meaning i can't put another drop in or on the ground it goes).
in this case 12.5gal
and the answer is 17.12

My 22r used to get about 560 km out of a tank. I could push it to almost 600 but I only did this with a jerry can in the back I would have to say I averaged about 23mpg. mods it had K&N air filter (they do make a difference) and a 1 peice cat back exhaut. 235LT 75R15s stndrd cab long box with ladder rack.

I got 26 MPG on one tank back in the day. That was with stock 28" tires, no bed cap, no extra stuff. Now with 32" tires, winch, 80 pound bumper, loads of tools and crap, I get around 16 or 17 on most around town tanks. 19 or 20 on highway trips at 60-65 MPH.
I run very high tire pressure on pavement to minimize rolling resistance.
