2000 taco dash lights

I just picked up a 2000 tacoma today. Tonight when i turned the lights on I noticed that the instrument cluster has a different color than the radio and a/c controls. Is this normal? My 4runner had the same color for both. I am curious because i also noticed the fuel guage will only read for a 1/2 tank and under. Things you don't notice till you fill the tank and it gets dark. Thanks!
