you guys are a special breed but it dont hurt my feelings any its funny how one of you says if your running 40s spend the extra money and put dana 60s under it then the next post is a guy also talking crap with a picture of a toyota on 40s with a toyota axel.. man can you say hypocrite? its ok the ol yota aels will hold and if they dont well he has an extra set of front load 2.5 tons in the next bay. or are thoes to small to? haha you all make me smile. the guy building it is also a very good friend and my brother works for him not like i need to explain any of it to you. thanks for the comments tho.
and, i didn't think toyota axles could handle 40's (i was wrong).
Anyways, if you are going for 10" of lift, go d60's and put 50" tires under it.

I need 33" any way..
These 30" tires are really crampin my style.
Oh and the steering linkage on that red ford is almost as thick as the axle tube itself, lol.

Oh......
This is gonna be funny.
Yoterup, best of luck to you. Not many have the balls to wheel a truck that is that tall and that narrow. You Florida boys do it different. Round here, its 42's and stock height:
And those aren't toy axles.
Cut the body and GET IT!

but you have to also understand, that there's not all too many rock trails around here in Fl to get tippy on, so 10ft of lift and the biggest tires you can fit is ideal in some cases
although I'll be the first to admit, I never was a big fan of the STUPID HIGH LIFT that some of these guys do in this state...
but just think, it could be worse...

well they definitely give you traction in the snow.
but they wont make you float any better.
with really deep snow theres 2 ways i look at it,
you either have a wide enough tire to stay on top.
or you gotta have the ground clearance and power to push threw.

we're just saying you don't need 10" of lift, 5" will clear 40" tires with room to spare..
10" is going to leave you with a big dump gap between tire and fender.

screw ifs just get the sfa. TOYOTA 1 you make a good point but why lift and gear ifs when you can cut to the chase and save a whole lot of money and pain with sfa? when i think of lifting my truck and running 35's i thought wait a second why would a put money into something that will break on me and look gay with all the ifs junk? solid axle swap isn't much more and is much stronger and looks realy cool? hell maybe i havent broke my ifs yet but why would i want too? i think i will do sas and break that instead. i dont want to be pulling mu hub and knuckle off in the mud and rain to change out a broken ifs birf. i have done it before at home and that was in a driveway and it sucked. swaping out a cv on a sfa is much more simple. now on 40's you might as well go to 1 ton axles because you are going to break that yota axle. its all about up grading and 40's with yota axles could be scary haha good luck!
Have you ever replaced a birfield? It's not that "easy" .. If you havent done the tach mod on the inners then putting in new birfields is a whole lot of cussing. You have to destroy the inner c clip to get the birf out and install a new with the new birf (special order toyota yooo)
And without longs or dirty 30's.. or atleast chromoly birfs if nothing else (in my case) .. you're asking for trail failures that will be a nightmare.
I broke on CV with IFS and that was because of a bent frame that made my pass side CV angle rediculous.. I wheel the same stuff as everyone else, it's about knowing your rig and what not to do on obstacles. IE dont crank the wheel and goose it!!!
No failures yet with 37's and TG chromoly 27 spline birfs with stock inners. Will toss in longs or dirty 30's when one fails.. but I carry spare stock birfs for a trail fix.. which is easy with the mar-tach mod on the inners.
