peapicker's 1990 4Runner Build-Up Thread
Well here goes! This is my recently purchased, very stock "yuk" 1990 4runner. Lots o plans for this thing! Here are the stats, 3.0 engine, 4.56 gears, strait drive, chain tcase, and some cancer.
Here's the plans!
1. paint and frame cleanup
2. sas with all the goodies
3. sliders, bumpers, and winch
4. engine swap, tranny rebuild, and geardrive tcases

Finally started on the body work, and am almost ready to put some primer on and cover up that frikn toyota blue! All doors are off, most of the sanding done on the body, all the cancer repaired!

Didn't mention someone broke the power mast off of mine to. Found a nice used non-power unit at the junk yard after finding out what a new power unit cost at the stealership. Wish I could have found an 88 like yours, being able to take the cover of in the summer would be awsome!

There is some builds where some chops look great, others not so much.
I say ditch the rear coils or rework the back design.. I went with leafs and am much happier than with the coils out back.

Thanks dude! ben wondering how to get the pics bigger. And thanks for the input guy's. Gonna go with the kit to match the front. Have finally relized the flex will be better. And as far as cutting the rear cover off, probabley not gonna do that. I kayak and board outta this thing, would get kinda cold in the winter!

Its about seven miles from my house in morganton, nc. Awsome place to paddle! Look it up on utube. Be glad to show you the lines if your interested.

not yet, been down the Nantahala twice this year, first time was first weekend in April. love it. but for now, the boat need the back end repaired, just one more item on the to-do list...

need some advise
What would you guys recomend for the final wipe down before the paint goes on????????????? I was thinking mineral spirits. If im wrong please chime in!
