tuurboo's '81 Extended Cab build up thread
soo i seem to have got myself into one hell of a project but im super pumped for if all goes well the outcome!!
just picked up a mint frame from 81 pickup longbox with custom 4.5 inch leafs from carrier
with a custom one of a kind first gen extended cab!
all for 400 bucks
now my plan is to get a set of new axles, rebuild, 4.88 gears and hopefully lockers on 33s
completely restore the cab and frame to mint
theeeen the fun part! swap all the rest from my 83 pickup onto it
then gunna hunt down a decent long box, bob the front and back
and doing onboard air, dual batteries, and all the little neat stuff like that
easy as that
so, what do you guys think!?!?!?!
any input or ideas before i dig in?
and gunna be mostly restoring over the winter so there wont be a ton of progress made but by late winter early spring tons of updates will be made

33's are easier on the truck..go with 4.88's
35's are more fun...if you aren't sure and go with 33's but think you might change your mind and go for 35's down the road,,,go with 5.29 gears...cheaper to do it once..paying for two gear swaps in one year is expense...ask me how I know
