1981/1983 build(s)

This is the first hilux I owned. At the time I had no clue what an sr5 was. Let alone that it was an sr5. Poor mans locker in the front ( previous owner filled the spider gears with kirksite). Convertible ( removable top ) and a set of cut down doors.

This is what happened to it...

This 81 I picked up a year ago. Somebody swapped in a 21r-u. It now has my 22r from my 83 with the 22r-u head.

This is the 82 motorhome I picked up last summer. 17,000 miles 22r. Near mint interior. Stripped it of anything and nearly everything worth keeping. Told a friend cut it up and you can have the scrap! It was hard to let it go. I wanted to save it for a fun 2wd project.

I hope to build two trucks. I want a clean street truck ( a replica of my 83 in its original condition) and a built/well equipped overland truck. This spring and summer i'll save up for new suspension on my 81. It would be great to restore the bed next winter so for now I have to slow the rust.

Ripped out the carpet the other day. Only to find I should have also saved the front floorboard/cab mount from the motorhome...

I spent a handful of brain cells on that decision. I had many plans in mind. But no space or time.

Not enough jelly beans in a lifetime

The lean mean green purple people eater is out of commission. I hope to revive it in the future. Until then i'll work on the 81.

Took care of some patching last week.

Rebuilt the odometer out of the 82 swapped the trip meter too ( low mile less wear and tear ) so I can install the 83 sr5 cluster in working order when I do my interior swap! The 17,364 miles matches the 22r that will be installed soon

I wet sanded the cover with 320 to eliminate the deep scratches then 800 grit and clear coated with a glossy finish came out great when I was done.

Trying to decide If this tilt column is worth rigging up. Came with no ignition or plastics. Cant swap my good ignition housings or even the cylinders. I would have to mount the ignition somewhere under the dash and hack up some plastics to fit. The ignition angles up from the bottom side of the column vs. straight out from the top side on a non-tilt.

What is the difference between a 1982 2wd wiring harness and the 4x4 harness?

I don't know the answer to your question.. but you'll get more responses if you post it in the tech section as a new thread. More traffic that way!
