I've been searching for a while for a diesel that will fit the A340F trans with little to none fab work. Is there any out there that are not super hard to find? Been looking for a 2lte or a om617 for a while, recently a friend told me to check out a vw diesel motor or a 4bt cummins. But I think the cummins is too big for the engine compartment.

I think you will find that a 4bt is way too large to fit in a DD truck. The Vw engines seem to be pretty underpowered for our applications. With some time you could probably figure out an adapter plate for the tranny. The hardest part would be getting all the shift controls set up right.

I think I saw a mercedes 300 sd at my local junk yard gonna go 2moro and check out the engine hows the parts support for that motor? If its in good shape im gonna pull it and rebuild it
