I can't wait to see this thing running. I've always been a fan of the Lexus swaps. Especially the 1UZ.

ok got to work on the tranny a bit tonight .

I was told not to cut the output shaft but after putting this thing together , there was no way it was going to work without cutting so I did.
I went on inchworms website to look at there instructions and the adapter for the 4wd tranny is the one to have the output cut so I started reading that one and no those instructions wont work for the 2wd adapter I have .

so I dont know what the heck is going on here.I just measured and cut.

Also when putting the adapter to the transfer case it would not go together all the way so I had to grind the center spline end (or whatever its called) to make them mate together.
In one of the pics you can barley see some aluminum filings from the adapter it would not go together, even after I turned the outputs from the transfer case a few times forward and reverse to make the end come in all the way.

I also ended up clocking the adapter , I dont know what headaches this will cause me but will see.
I assembled this thing without silicone right now , after i mock it up in the truck and everythings ok I will silicone the thing shut.

I started wondering about whats going to keep the tranny oil seperate from the gear oil in the transfer case it looks like they will mix together.

I will call jim at inchworm tomorrow and talk to him about this.

laters!!

There should be a seal that came with the kit that gets tapped into the back of the Advanced adapters part of the 2 piece adapter(the cast aluminum piece). the t-case spline should go through this. None of the instructions on Inchworms site are accurate for the Lexus tranny because the output shafts are different. I made another 1/2" spacer to put on the other side of the spline adapter too because there is nothing to keep the adapter, spacer and sensor ring from sliding back.

Clocking the t-case will interfear with your e-brake stuff so plan on some customizing there. You will also need to make a custom crosmember or modify what you have.

Thanks!!!

I called inchworm this morning and was unable to talk to Jim , but I did talk to Reed and the dude was more than willing to help.
Anyways they gave me the wrong seal when i first bought the adapter , the advanced adapter has been changed a bit and a new seal is needed . Reed will be shipping this out to me .

You know i was also thinking about the coupler sliding back and nothing holding it in place , thanks for that i will make a spacer for it .

so the wait is on!!!

toyminator did you also do the 1uz swap with the lexus tranny ? sounds like you at least used the lexus tranny for something.

Yes. I bought a complete doner SC400 car and am using the tranny that came with it. I'm not finished with mine yet either. They probably gave you a 23 spline seal instead of the 21. its a bit bigger.

By the way, my last post about the e-brake interference only applies if you are using dual transfer cases, which I am. Sorry for any confusion. I got rid of the whole setup and am usiong the pul handle e-brake from the SC400 and are going to attempt to do a rear disc brake conversion using the lexus rear calipers.

you should start a thread or at least take a bunch of pics to post up later.would like to see what you have planned for the disc brakes so i can copy it or improve on it .

I am curious to what others are doing
sas , manifolds, body lift , wiring, exhaust blah, blah, blah

I really have no clue what im going to do for exhaust , i want it to sound bad a** but i havent worked aroud exhaust much and am unsure what to use.

I have a flowmaster laying around here ,may just try it out and see what it sounds like .

For now I'm going to be sticking with the factory SC400 exhaust manifolds. I bought a set of Tundra headers and the passenger one fits fine but the drivers side hits the steering shaft. They can be taken on and off just fine with the engine in place so I can make that a project for later. I'm changing the 3 bolt flange on the exhaust manifolds to a two bolt flange that I got from the catalytic converters. I'm doing a 2.5" dual into a 3" single crossing it over at the t-case adapter. The fuel tank location makes it hard to do duals all the way out unless you run them both on the drivers side and I saw no point in that. I got a great deal on a brand new Borla 3" stainless muffler on Ebay so I'm gonna try that. Jegs sells do it yourself mandrel bends and pipe to weld together a system.

I already did a SAS on my truck about ten years ago so I'm using the rear sump from the SC400. I have no bodylift and plan on keeping it that way. I've run into another big issue due to dual transfer cases, the drivetrain is really long and i'll probabl yneed to cut out part of my flooboard and make the hump bigger. I was going to wait until it was actually running before I made a thread.

Here's my drivetrain.

Thanks again!!

Wow that whole assembly is super long

I cut the flange on the sc manifolds and they still hit the upper arm brackets , so Im going to try the tundra manifolds .

what year tundra manifolds did you buy? my neighbor has a 2006 tundra and those manifolds look almost like the sc manifolds . I bough some 2003 manifolds that look like the log stlye type.so hopefully they will work .

Thanks man!!! Yea I am excited to see if she runs myself, hopefully a few weeks and she will .

I need to get the tranny up in there so I can get some measurments and have the drive shafts done.

I already found a place that does this(South Bay Driveline) they quoted me $120 for shortening and balancing, and starting at $130 for lengthening.

Man I have to sell some more parts !!!

Toyminator, I have a stupid question...

Is that a 4Runner grill in your truck? The pickups had square, sealed beam headlights into the mid 90's. Ive just never seen anyone swap a grill out like that before, it looks good.

so I got the correct seal from Inchworm today, They kicked butt By the way super fast shipping .
The black one on the right was the wrong one , the green one is the correct one.

I also Finally got the tundra manifolds , these are stock 2003 tundra manifolds . They do need a little customizing but not very much. The sc manifolds would have been the next easiest to customize and forget about the Ls ones those would take alot to make fit.
I just cut them and turned the flange end a bit and now they fit fine.

I do have to turn the cat also so that it fits vertically and not horizontally.

And here is the drivers side already to go.I just cut it around 4 or 5 inches from the flange and turned the flange end a bit and re welded it.You can see the cut i made inside the manifold .

Now the passanger side I think I will have to move the brake lines and the fuel lines a bit ,but I am not really sure yet Will find out this weekend.
