Which windage tray should I use?

My question is which windage tray did you end up using on your swap and why?

I've seen it done with the 3.0 pick up, 3.0 Pan, 3.4 Windage tray modified for the 3.0 pick up. Or using all the 3.0 parts and windage tray.

I heard lots of people don't like the idea of the 3.0 pan sandwiching on the pan / block side.

i used the 3.4 and modified it, for the very reason you stated. i don't like it sandwiched. Does it matter, probably not.

I used the 3.4 but only because it was easier than cleaning the silicone off the old 3.0. I replaced the 3.0 pan with a rear sump pan a few years ago and reused the 3.0 tray. Never had any issues with it leaking. Your call.

ok thanks for the info. i went with the 3.4 windage tray due to the 3.0's tray being a pain in the a** not wanting to come off. i cut a small square hole for 3.0's oil pick up leg, does it need anything else? does it need to be bent in any for adjustments?

now the only issue i have is getting the 3.4's pick up gasket off as it's broken and baked on tight.

I didnt bend anything. I cleaned the strainer really good in some gas though.

ya i had that issue with the gasket as well.

I would recommend having the motor upside down and working that way. Its a pain in the ass to work with the motor that way but everything will fall out rather than in.

I used a small chisel to remove the gasket and then a Q-tip with gas for remnants.

Its easy to modify the 3.4 windage tray with a drumel tool. Just use the the 3.0 tray as a starting template. Its actually really simple. I used the 3.4 as I had a fel-pro oil pan gasket lying around from a 3.0 and didn't like the idea of sandwiching it either.

i shimmed one leg with a washer, as my pickuptube was touching a 10mm bolt head, and i didnt like that. And i bent the metal down a little bit by the bolt, i have a couple pics in my 3.4 thread. https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f160.../#post51361751

I used the 3.4 tray, just cut the hole for the tube,

I also had to bend the pickup tube to clear one bolt head.
