Harness and ECU compatability
What year harnesses still work with which year ecus?
Would a 2002 manual wire-harness work with a 2001 manual ecu?

well...don't quote me but...
from my extensive "research"...and personal experiences...
i've found out that you should match year-to-year trucks, such as 2001-2001 and 2003-2003 and blah blah blah.
on the other hand...if you have a 2002 taco manual ECU and/or harness on hand and don't need it...i can take it off your hands. my junk is bad.
good luck.

I bought a JDM 3.4 engine and the type of Toyota it came off of is unknown, could be from a Tacoma or 4Runner etc. also, the year of the engine could be from a 1997-2002
It is an automatic engine and I'm putting it in my 1993 4wd ext cab SR5 manual pickup
I am trying to find out how much the years vary when it comes to the ECU, I have been searching everywhere for this info and can't find it or I'm just not good researching
Any help is greatly appreciated

Ors site in the installation instructions.
I'd get a harness and ecu from a 99 or 2000 runner, it has supercharger compatible capabilities, just have to get the same year afm.

The blocks are essentially the same from year to year, model to model (including US vs JDM markets); the big differences are going to be electronics.
Find a handful of sensors that have the 10-digit part number on them (XXXXX-XXXXX) then type them into Google, one at a time, then try to find a "where-used" list of all the applications where that sensor is used. The more sensor part numbers you look up, the closer of an idea you should have when trying to identify where your engine came from.
If you can't seem to have any luck with that, then go to your local junk yard and see if there's an intact engine harness and ECU you can buy together as a "package," look up the application of that ECU, then start buying compatible sensors for that ECU and convert your JDM motor to match the ECU.
