ECU help!

Howdy
I'm going to swap my 1993 manual 3.0 to a 3.4 automatic, the year on the new engine could be from 1996-2002 and don't know what exact Toyota it came from, anything from a Tacoma to a 4Runner etc
My issue now is finding a manual ECU that would work for any of those years
How much does it matter
Thanks to everyone who made posts about their swaps, I will do the same!

Decide what year your engine is going to be .

2000 is a good year.

Only the ECM and sensors make a difference. For the Most.

The ECM and electronics need to be a matched set

Have the EWD for your engine year and your vehicle the engine is going in .

The rest is just a matter of time.

Thanks for the info, someone told me that 1999 or 2000 are good years. I'm hoping to find those parts soon so I can have ORS make the conversion harness

I found a 1996 ecu, manual, 4/4 which is so HARD to find, is that a decent year? Why are there so many damn automatics out there?

What are you asking?

Are you going to end up with a 3.4 and an automatic transmission in your 93, that was once a manual?

Are you going to convert the 3.4 engine harness from automatic to manual transmission, then install into your 93 using your existing manual transmission?

Either way, start reading through the various swap threads in this sub-forum; the stickies are a good place to start. It's all been covered, and beat to death, just spend 10 minutes and you should find most of your answers.

I am researching the hell outta this and have received some great advice, my current question was if a 96 ECU is a decent year.
Yes, I'm going to get a conversion wire harness but need to find my ECU first. Thanks

The conversion harness goes from the dash harness to the engine harness and the ecu.
The ecu AND the engine harness need to be from the same car.

Good read on the ORS, off road solutions, swap installation instructions.
And as stated above info in the 3.4 swap threads.
Try to be more clear about what you have and what you want to do, we'll help if we can...
