obviously havent read enough
Yes it can be done and will bolt to a 3.0 v6 5sp tranny the r150f or a 22ret r151f. the comp will not be affected on the 3.4 if you bolt a 4x4 5spd tranny to it
Get your 3.4 with its original harness and comp do not try and mismatch or you will have nightmares trust me. You can use the harness and computer from the 2wd 3.4 and bolt that thing right in

Since the computer doesn't control any of your transfer case's functions, I'm pretty sure it won't matter.
The only thing I can see, and it's just a wild guess, is your dash light not indicating when you're in 4 wheel drive. I'd have to look at the wiring diagrams, but they're on my other computer.
My light doesn't come on, but I'm pretty sure that's just a wiring thing, since I do have a 4x4 ECU with mine. I just look down at the transfer case shift lever to see if I'm in 4x4 or not!
