What the thunk is this? (auto tranny question).

Curious about this. I'm driving 65, slow down normally for a traffic light, come to complete stop...Feel some excessive idle pressure and slightly release brake pedal. "Thunk", (not so much a sound, but a feeling)very subtle, not real obvious, but it feels like the transmission at that point decides to let go and idle normally. I try to make this happen at the next light. Nothing. By the time I forget about it, I notice it again.

I had a tranny flush 6 mos ago, and a reaccuring CEL (PO770,PO773) regarding solenoid E. The CEL has been rare and infrequent since treating the trans fluid with B&G tranny juice. I'm thinking another fluid change (it's been about 10k since last change). should I do a flush again? Just drop the pan and clean the screen?

any thoughts appreciated.

thanks lee, I did my own oil change last week, I didn't lube anything else like the jiffyjoint usually does. Maybe it's that binding the thread spoke of. I'd appreciate anyone else's experience to contiue this thread.

My runner has done that the whole time that I've had it - almost 8 years.
I don't know what causes it but apprently it does not hurt anything.

It's like slow down and stop and when your foot comes off the brake and you start to accelerate is when the thump happens. Probably the brakes releasing.

2002 4Runner...auto trans. Ditto...has been doing it since day 1...had it checked out...nothing wrong, just seems to be a 4Runner 3rd gen. character flaw.

I know my "thunk" is a result of the rear axle seals gone bad. WHen I clean the rear drums and shoes with some carb cleaner, the thunk goes away for a few thousand miles until the greas and junk builds up again. ....I really need to fix those...
