stuck bellcrank! !*!*!*
I threw the runner up on jackstands, took of the drum and the right rear bellcrank assy is stuck as $h!t - anyone ever have this happen? How did you fix it?? I just adjusted the rear brakes and left it soaked in silykroil.
It seems apparent that this is what is causing my e-brake not to work!
R & R the bellcrank assy?
thanks in advance!

Pull it off and clean it out. Might have to use a hammer to get it started if it's really bad, just be careful you don't hit it too hard and break it. When you reinstall it put a bunch of antiseize in it.

thanks shane
hey shane, thanks for the reply....
so, I'll just pull it off - IF i can....and clean it up...it's pretty damn stuck. I've gotta just go in deep with the drum...and fear not the drum brake! (i must stay, they look really confusing on paper!)
thanks again,

Disconnect the brake cable and use a small hammer or mallet to tap the arm back in if needed for slack, pull the drum and remove the two bolts that are holding the arm onto the backing plate. If I'm remembering correctly you shouldn't have to disassemble any further than that, but then I don't have drums back there anymore.
If you still don't have any luck freeing it let me know, I think I still have a couple of them laying around. Not sure if they'll fit yours though...

aight!
Shane- thanx again - I'll give it another try - if I recall correct...the nuts that hold the bolts for the bellcrank on are on the OUTSIDE, under the boot, possibly - i didn't SEE them from the inside of the brake drum.
I did give it a good pounding the other day when i took a look at it....I guess since my e-brake doesn't werk anyway, getting under there and removing it to soak in solvent won't be a problem.
what year rig are those extra bellcrank assy's off of? THEY might do the trick if mine doensn't come unstuck!

ah ha!
bracket! I must be nuts! (LOL!)
honestly, i didn't get a good enough look at to know. It was just pure frustration and trying to beat the sun setting...I'm sure it's as you say w/ the bracket and such....I'm thumbing up my Chilton's right now and that's as it appears to be.....
I'll give it another college try and let ya know.
thanks for your help and experience,

UNSTUCK!
Hey Shane,
won't be needing it! My guitar student helped me thru the unsticking....you see, he had a VISE! He unstuck it for me and helped me learn how to adjust rear drums.
Amazing what you can do with the right tools!
Looks like I need a new e-brake cable (as I once suspected)
Thanks for your help!

Ok, cool, cause I hadn't had a chance to find them yet. Just got in from installing a CB in my truck. E-brake cable.... hmm.... how about a couple low "E" strings tied together?

low E......0105?
funny you should mention that....i was thinking "what gauge would this be" as i looked at it last nite!
I think the tone might be good...but the string stretch would KILL me having to adjust the "string" every time I pulled the brake!
