HALP! Ruined my finish
Whatever mud/clay that was on the 4Runner yesterday ruined the finish on the hood and front quarter panels. Seems to have walked right through my polish/wax & left a non-removable footprint. I've high-pressure-sprayed, foam-brushed, sponge & soap'd, clay-barred, WD-40'd, waxed, polished & scrubbed but nothing is getting rid of these blotches in the finish. Experienced detailers, I think I am in need of some assistance... Recommendations?

Ummmm..... You aren't using Griot's or Zainos right....
If you have access to a "Corey Cable" use some 3M Perfect-It Fine Cut II Rubbing Compound. It won't damage the clear coat and should remove the stains.

My buddy is going to try and help me with a power polish tonight (he's a professional detailer). Problem is, it doesn't seem to be stained on the paint protectant. It seems to have gone through that and removed what paint protectant would have been there. The blotches feel like they're divets (sp?), not bumps.
I hope it gets fixed tonight... Thx for the reply.

Apparently, whatever that stuff was out there was probably acidic. It ate through my polish, paint protectant AND clear coat. Those blotches will never come out, short of cutting the clear coat down A LOT, which would shorten the life span of the paint.
Guess I won't be going out there again when it's mud instead of snow. That's too bad, I really like it out there. But not if it gets to the point where a power polish can't get rid of the blotches.
