Remove dipstick?

I'm swapping my 22re for a rebuilt one and can't figure out how to remove the dipstick so I can install it into the new one. Any help?

Pull straight up just like you would if your checking the oil.

Or do you mean the dipstick tube?
Got to unbolt it from the block and it should come right out.

I just gave mine a good yank - for lack of a better term.

If it's really tight, just take a sharp chizel and CAREFULLY go around the bottom where it meets the block and pry it up. It's just pressed fited in there.

The top part has a little holder that bolts to the block/head, but where it goes into the block is just a press fit.

Haha my mistake, I meant dipstick tube... so it pulls straight out with a little elbow grease? Sounds good, I was worried that it was welded in or something. Thanks!

Drop the oil pan, take a punch that is close to the dipstick hole ID, spray WD-40 and gently tap it out. Doing it this way you will not damage the dipstick tube. I just replaced mine with a Lokar unit.
