Of the two, the Cherokee is actually a pretty decent wheeler. They will get thru some pretty rough stuff stock. The S-10 is gonna be the anchor of your group- I'd say it will run a -3 rated trail, while the Cherokee could do a 3 to 3+ if it had too- I've watched a pretty much stock Cherokee get thru a 3.5+ rated trail w/ only moderate body damage and a few good tugs here and there.

On the Naches, two things are going to hinder your group. The first is the lack of lockers. Some of the hill climbs are VERY loose and some have off camber sections that will lift one wheel of a stock rig.

The second is the clearance. The boulder gardens on either side of the ridge section require either VERY careful driving or some lift. On a stock height vehicle, you are almost certain to get hung up or put some serious dents into the skid plates.

I have taken stock Tacoma's through the Naches with minimal damage and that was caused by driver error, but they have been rear locked so they could make the climbs and take lines to avoid the worst of the clearance problems.

Were I you, I would take a lot of strap and a come-along. You are likely going to need both.
