Photos from my trip to Anza Borrego and Diablo Drop Off

this saturday i went out to borrego spring (vallecito wash, canyon sin nombre, diablo drop off, fish creek). i think i finally exceded the limits of my painfully stock susoension on the diablo drop off when my 4runner was teetering on the fr and rl tires.

Damn those pics of the canyon bring back memories I Haven't been out there in a while.

Looks like it was a fun trip! I can't wait until I can head out to Anza and Ocotillo Wells again.

Cool pics. I'm surprised your running boards are still in one piece.

Marc P:
what route did you guys take out there? i started out from canyon sin nombre and took the arroyo seco del diablo trail to the fish creek trail. i hate washboard! those are some cool pics of your trip, i wish i would have known, i was out at ocotillo wells that day not too far from you. when's the next trip out that way?

Awesome pics! Monkeynuts, that last pic is SWEET!

That is a freakin' beautiful area. After you do your lift mods, you'll have to go back and do Heart Attack Hill.

Here's a pic from Sandstone canyon...

More pics HERE

BTW, is there any size limit to the pics I can reference from a post? I didn't see any size restrictions posted, but just want to make sure it's ok for me to reference a pic this big (77kb). Lemme know if I should remove it.

IMO, anything under 100k is acceptable... unless there are like 10 of them

Bajataco,
My wife and I did the "Squeeze" and Heart attack hill in my runner a few months ago. I will not do it again until I install my Detroit. The uphill climb to the dropoff got the best of me.

Did you lose any paint in the squeeze? Somehow I made it through only taping the edge of my rear bumper on the way down.

Any pics?

those are awesome pix. I think toyota would sell more 4runners if they had more pix like that in their site. Makes me want to trade my PreRun for a 4x4.

How far is that from Ocotillo wells?

that last photo was about 10 minutes from occotillo wells. you just take 78 east, go south on split mountain road, and then right into fish creek wash. that is where the pics after the drop off were taken. also, you son't need 4 wheel drive in fish creek wash right now. maybe after a lot of sand builds up, but right now the ground is pretty hard in there.

Just be prepared for washboard! It will rattle you and your truck for a few miles. There are quite a few washes you can go up. The best being Sandstone Canyon.

REI carries a great map of the area.

Official word is 800x600 or less, and under 100 kb. If it's more just link it instead as then it's the reader's choice whether or not to download it.

Marc, we approached HAH from the bottom, so I never got to do the "squeeze" A few vehicles made attempts going up HAH with a couple of them successful. It was getting late, so we all headed back out to Fish Creek wash, then to camp. One of the guys making it up HAH was an S-10 Crew Cab - I was impressed! This d00d did a great job with some strategy, skill and a little extra g0-g0 juice

Bajataco,
I realized you didn't do the "squeeze" when I saw all the rest of the pics. I was so haired out after going through all that them going down HAH that I had no interest in trying to go up.
There are a few of us here that are planning a trip to Pinyon Mountain soon.
I am installing my Detroit and my buddy is making sliders for me, so that will give me the edge I nedd to be more comfortable.

Great pics by the way!!
