Geez, I think this is my first post over here.....

Basically, I got a new FJ (silver, 6 speed) and had Bentup.com fabricate up some sliders over the weekend.....

Wow that was quick, first aftermarket sliders. Congrats on the FJC!!

Do you think the frame bolts will hold up to severe abuse?

The frame nuts are M8x1.25 pitch.....At first, we used whatever was on hand, but I have since got M8x30 bolts that at least go 100% into the nuts.

I think they will hold up to a fair mount of abuse. As long as the bolts are ALL there, and the load is evenly distributed thoughout the slider, I think it will be fine. I am afraid of pulling out my high-lift and testing it, for fear of a "high lift black eye"....

It's a very neat solution and I love the fact that Toyota added that to the frame from day one. I guess we will know in time to come if it holds up to some abuse. I'm sure it will be fine for 90% of folks, but I don't know about the other 10%. Guess time will tell, but 4 frame mount points should help.

On the other hand I'm a bit jealous at the speed of aftermarket stuff being availible for the FJC comapred to the 4R You already have a whole set of suspension choices, from spacers to bling coilovers and everything in betweeen. Also an ARB front bumper, not sure how I feel about the lines of it on the FJC though.

Angry Andy as a forum noob and without moderator powers...how very odd...
What amazes me is that you have an SAS Taco AND an SAS 89 4runner, and yet you put sliders on the new FJ. I am waiting to see some carnage, you are my hero!

Hey, I was a nOOb once over at that OTHER forum too....

And now I don't know which vechicle will get to go offroad....Its like having three dogs, and only being able to take ONE of them for a walk...the other two are whining and crying.

The FJ sliders are more for shopping carts right now. Although I do see myself wheeling some milder stuff this summer for sure. Today I tested thier strength with a high-lift....

Andy, are these Bent UP units utilizing the stock Toyota locations too, or did AJ have to make more holes?

I may trade out my sliderz I ordered for the FJ at a later date and get a set of these.

thanks for pimping....but my Tacoma has square sliders..those would not work for me.

bentup fabbed up the square mounting plates only. he cut out stock steel and drilled the holes, utilizing the existing 'weld nuts' that come from the factory; on the inside of the frame.

there are 4 sets of bolt holes, i THINK they were about 3 5/8" apart, but I would have to measure again to be sure.

I am still curious to know what Toyota is asking for thier 'rock guards'...and how much they weigh, and see more pics of them besides the one pic I have seen already.

NICE FJ! silver is definitely my favorite color with black coming in a close second. is the rear visibility as bad as people say so far? i think a nice convex mirror would definitely help. i have one on my 98 4runner (not that it needs it) and its like looking out of an aquarium.

And I actually DO sit down on the 'couch' every so often....

As far as the blind spot goes; I had a street queen, BMW convertible that I sold to get the FJ. The BMW had the same blind spot...it was no problem when the top was down; of course....but in the winter, I could not see crap.

The FJ does have a significant blind spot in the rear quarterpanel area, but IMO the HUGE side mirrors make up for it. When you say 'convex mirror' are you referring to the side mirror; or the rear-view mirror? The rear view IS limited, mostly cause of the small size of the rear window, and the spare tire also....but I am dependant on my side mirrors, I rarely use the rear-view...So its never something I thought about until you asked.
