PIAA wiring to Contura Switch

I thought I'd surely find my answer on here or google with a quick search but I haven't had any luck

I want to wire up my new set of PIAA 520s to a Carling Contura rocker switch. There are three wires going into the factory PIAA switch: red, white, black.

My question is simple: which is is which?
-I assume black is ground
-Which is then the power feed and which is the power out?

Thanks!
Mike

well easy way is hook up the power wire to the battery and see what one has power at the harness where u want to go to ur switch, but in most cases red power, white to item u are powering and black neg.

Red face

Break out your Meter

Most switches are labeled

You most often have the light wire if the switch is lit with the lights and the other 2 wires just break or close a hot wire.

if this is a double throw switch it breaks or closes two circuits

I got it all wired up and working great this weekend. I only have one question remaining, which is a silly one... I was expecting that the on position for the Contura switch would be with the lower part of the switch depressed (this position: \ ).

Instead, it's this pattern:
-On: /
-Off: \

Everything works great and I swear I wired it correctly per the instructions and which wires are which. I'm just wondering if this is how these switches should work, or if I got two wires switched.

Thanks in advance!

Could you flip the switch around to work how you want it to?

Looks like I found my answer online. I did wire the switch correctly. For contura's on is / and off is \. Case closed.
