ECU Clicking?

I bought a 1994 Toyota pickup a while ago and this morning I stalled the motor leaving my driveway (brain fart). So I tried to start the engine again and got repeated clicking from the passenger side footwell and no start. It clicked for maybe five attempts and then fired up. Is this the result of a bad ECU? Any advice is very helpful. Thanks!

Sounds like your starter contacts are possibly on the fritz.

The clicking really sounds like it's coming from inside the cab, not from the engine bay. Is the ECU mounted somewhere behind the glovebox?

The starter relay is behind the passenger side kick panel.

If the starter contacts are bad.

The relay will click-click-click because the contacts at the solenoid haven't made contact.

Likely the Circuit Opening relay up above the ECU. Controls the fuel pump:

Will drop out (and click) with a bad AFM connection or signal.

Thanks for the input. I really appreciate it since I'm brand new to Toyotas and to pickups and I scoured the search functionality and didn't find an answer. So, starter relay contacts...can I tell by looking if it's faulty or should I use the old Multimeter to check resistance? If you guys can recommend a good repair manual I would appreciate it. It's a '94 4x4 Extra Cab with the 3VZE motor. Thanks!

Possibly ohm out the contacts or try feeling for the relay that is clicking and see which one it is.

if you remove ECU, there is a relay box behind it, I think that is where the pump relay is. I hear same thing on mine.

Here's an online version of the fsm (field service manual) for a '93, but it will work for you as well.

X10 on starter contacts. relay click is normal, you just don't hear it over the engine starting. r&r starter and replace the contacts in the solenoid.
