aftermarket power locks and windows
#2
Can't speak specifically to an 89 p/u, but it can't be much more different than other vehicles. You can buy power door lock kits (basically, an actuator with a plunger and some wire that you can bend to tie into your door lock) at any alarm store for fairly cheap. It will work with your alarm, but you won't get any switches for inside the car. If you have an alarm that auto-locks and unlocks with the ignition, it won't matter - when you shut the car off, the doors unlock.
The power window kits are a little more involved. I've seen them, but have never seen one being installed, so I can't tell you how hard it is. It does appear to work on the same principle, though, a linear actuator tied into the window crank mechanism, from the kits I've seen.
The power locks are functional and convenient (auto unlock with disarm, etc...) but not so sure about the power windows.
