94 Toyota truck 22RE brake and charge light on

Hi guys, My name is kyle and Im very new here. I have a 94 toyota truck single cab short bed 4x4 speed, 22re. Before I can get to having fun in the truck I have to make it road legal. This is where I have a problem, I cant pass ohio state emis inspection with the brake light and charge light on because they will not put the car on rollers. I have had the truck for about 3 months and have almost run out of temp tags.

I work as a vw mazda tech and have been digging at this for a while now with no luck.

:what I know: with both lights on the way they are I have read that it indicates a charging issue. My lights have been on since I got my truck. My lights do not flicker on and off they are on all the time, as soon as I hit the key.

What I have done:
Replaced alt with napa reman
cleaned grounds on block and body
cleaned batt terminals
replaced old batt with optima red top 850 cca
I looked for a charge light relay as some people have stated went bad in there 1st gens 22r motor cars, I could not find one on the pass side under dash aria, it would be nice to know if the 94 had a relay?
I also checked the ebrake switch and it is being fully depressed and the contacts are closing and working as they should.

did both battery and charge back tests with multi volt ohlm meter and the alt works great charges good, no over or under charge.

Please give me some tips or pointers as to what else to search out, I need to get this solved and quick so that I can get my tags and get on with using my truck.

Any help would be great, thanks in advance,
Kyle

Everything I would suggest you have already done. Good job on that front. The only thing left I could think of is a short somewhere with the diagnosis circuits (sp?).

my bro had the same issue, he changed the alt. and it went a way. you mentioned that you changed but have you had it tested sense then. it is not heard of getting a DOA alt. my only tip i have if, the alt is good, pull the dash so you can pull those bulbs and get rid of the head ache.

The wiring diagrams are here: http://www.ncttora.com/fsm/1990-1995...5/contents.htm

The FSM is available for download here: http://www.ncttora.com/fsm/index.html

Sounds like troubleshooting the wiring from the alternator to the charge light is the next step. Good luck,
Bugs

thanks for all the help guys, Does anybody know if there is a way to get rid of just the break light besides pulling the bulb, I am not sure of why both come on, I cant find a point at any place in the wiring diagram where they would even come close.
