1st gen 4runner rear washer/wiper switch

I have decided to not use my fiberglass top and use the soft topper. So that leaves me with the washer/wiper switch on my center console. Would it be possible to use the switch for something else? I came up with the idea today to have it control auxiliary reverse lights for the back of the truck. Can I make the switch work for the lights?

Also I never used the switch when the top was on the truck. I'm guessing it works this way. Push it forward and it sprays and wipes and push it down the other way it locks and it keeps the wipers on? Does the rear wiper match the speed of the front wipers with the switch on the steering column? If it does would that have an impact on the amount of electricty that would go to lights if I was able to use them?
