Where are you buying your Anchor Shackles

I bought my last 3 at Central 4WD, and they were the Warn brand.
I do not want to pay $15 plus for a shackle branded with the Warn name on them again.

I am in need of more 3/4" shackles, and I heard some hardware stores have them.

I called my local Lowes store, and they said they do not have them.
I am not sure if they even know what they are, so I may drop in there tomorrow morning anyways to see if they have them.

I just want plain unpainted ones.

I just bought one today. I first went to a local 4x4 shop, they were out. So then I went to a trailer hitch and welding shop, and they had some in stock. It was a 3/4" one, and still $15 bucks. Kinda on the high side, but I didn't feel like looking around anymore.

One site that comes to mind where you can order some is rockstomper.com

$15 is pretty norm, and not that much cheepskate!

I bought mine (ARB) from expedition exchange. Summit racing and 4x4Connection sell cheap ones but they are painted.

Try your local contractor supply stores that sell fittings, hydraulic hoses, bolts, and that kind of stuff.

I called Schucks Auto and Lowes hardware, no go.
I will find some...

You can get the non name brand ones for 1/2 the price of Warns.

someone had a post not too long ago about some 1" shackles from sportsmans guide. Seems like overkill, but they were only $10 each

I actually picked up a pair of 3/4" shackles at Northern here in good ole Richmond VA today.

They are finished in black which is kinda neutral but have a gold anodized or plated pin which is kinda wierd.

$9 ea.

I got mine (7/8" as I recall - $15-20 or so) at my local Orchard Supply Hardware (http://www.osh.com/). Made a receiver to fit them and my rear bumper:

Try a real hardware store, not a building supply place.

I took my old Warn shackle I painted years ago red, but was all chipped to work last Friday.

I have a machine shop in the building where I park my horse at the end of the day.
There is a two wheel grinder in there with a grinding stone on one, and a wire wheel on the other.

I not only was able to get all of the red paint off, but it also blinged it up
I have never seen a shackle shine like this, it is not the common unpainted galvinized look.

I will have to snap you shot of it, but put your sun glasses on before viewing

4Crawler, thanks for the tip on the store.
My local Lowes has them, but they were out of 3/4" which fits the Warn shank I have.

Tractor supply company has them out this way, all shapes and sizes. Dunno if you have one where you are but I think it was a little cheaper than 15 thats for sure.

Bring on the bling

That is the one I used the wire wheel on at work to strip off the red paint.
