Not related to your lack of starting, but did you drain the fuel tank?
p.s
20r = Older carb'd 4 banger, found in 1st gens
22r = Newer carb'd 4 banger, found in many 1st,2nd and 3rd (2wd only) gen trucks)
22re= EFI 4 banger, found in trucks and 4runners from 85-95.

Both of my trucks are the 2.2re
As for the fuel tank, Disconected. I have an electric fuel pump run in-line from a gas tank on the floor to the fuel rail on the back side of the EFI set-up. Not going to run any fuel from the tank but I am going to test the pump later to see if it works. My blue rig need one.

Early 70's to 1982 trucks had the 20r, which has 2.2L of displacement. This was replaced by the 22R carburated engine which is a 2.4L engine. Then they went to a different block in 1985 which is slightly shorter. They also introduced EFI on these engines, but for a few years there were many that came carbureted in pickups. The fuel injected model is called the 22R-E. There should be a tag on the front of the valve cover that says 20R, 22R, or 22R-E. If it's missing, the pre-1985 valve covers are slightly rounded, and the post 1985's are more square edged.

I just rebulit a motor for a truck that had been under water. The one that was in it had a hole in its side that you could fit a can in. WATER DOES NOT COMPRESS PEOPLE!! Anyway I cleaned up the rest of the truck and it runs just fine, so it will probable be something small when you find out why its not starting. And it will run good after you do . Good luck!

The Water Fall....about 1/2 qt. from the rear plug cam out.
Can anyone tell me anything I may want to know or that is usefull for me from these pics? Yes I know. Its been wet.
I'll be pulling the started off tom. and cleaning it then testing it.
After that the alt. as well.

I didnt have as much time today as I had hoped, but I did get the motor to turn over. Well, I put a socket and ratchet on the crank and turned it over a few a times. Moves freely and got most of the water left in the cylenders to shoot out 15ft accross my shed. After that I lifted it and took off the passenger side wheel and tire for a better look at the starter. Hopefully tom. I can get that pulled off.

sounds like you're getting closer. if it was only clicking like you said, its definitely something to do with the starter. If it were the engine it would turn over and not power up.

Got the starter off today. SOOOO EASY! by far the fastest starter I have ever done. (first 4 cyl. starter pull as well...hmm) Any-who, I got it off, pulled it apart, cleaned it all up, put it back together, and took it into Advanced Auto to have it tested. ITS GOOD! That makes me feel better. Now that I know the starter is good, ill clean up all the connections down their and put it back on. Hope it will at least turn over for me to get some fresh oil turning and the rest of what little water may still be in the cylenders. After that its putting in new plugs, getting some fuel to her, and seeing if she will purr again......

Its Alive!!!!!
I got the starter back on, cleaned up all the connections, turned the key......got the PURRR!!
I first put it all together then turned it over a few times, I got some water to come out but not much was left. After that I cleaned the plugs and wires up then put them in. I had an in-line fuel pump hooked up but it ran and ran and ran never building up pressure.... hmmm? I called a shop and they said that the EFI motors need 45-60psi! Holy crap! Thats why the fuel pump never shut off and it wouldnt start, the new pump was only rated at like 10-20psi. So I pulled the pugs, poured some gas right in the cylenders, put them back in, filled a 3ft fuel line hooked up to the fuel rail, had my brother with the air hose and blow gun put pressor to it, started right up.
Now that I know she runs, ill be changing trans. fluid, front and rear diff. oil, and stripping down for parts, scrapping the rest. Ill have to post some pics of it while it was on the lift. Almost broke it half thats how bad the frame is on it.
