Cleaning Engine compartment
Well after a long day of mudding my engine was COVERED. I bought some Simple Green degreaser to clean it off and DAMN! This stuff works awesome. If you ever need to clean your engine compartment just a bottle of Simple green, spray it on, wait 10-15 minutes, hose it down and it should be shining!
Here are my before and after pics:

Your a savier to me lol
Mine has bin sitting alomst exactly like yours has for about 4 months now...
I was worried to just spray anything one and then just hose it down...
I thought you needed to do stuff like unhook the battery,
cover all electical stuff and such....
Did you unhook the battery at least?
did you cover any of the other elxtronics i.e. the cruise control Modular and such?

also i think simple green will break down petroleum products like your rubber components on your motor thats why i use it first then blackmagic engine cleaner and brightner
like i said before cover well i used 6 plastic bags over the alternator and fuse box and well you dont have to cover the battery and i use a leaf blower to get rid of most of the water no problems at all
heres what mine looks like before..after

Yep right in nice little letters:
No where does it say it will break down plastics, but it doesnt say you cant clean the engine. It does say non toxic, biodegradable, ammonia free and non flammable.
Important: Clean one small area at a time. Do not allow cleaner to dry on surface, Do not clean engines wheels and tires when they are hot. Clean surfaces while they are cool. Do not spray the product on surfaces around your vehicles insturment panel. Not recommended for use on leather.

I've tried Simple Green, and it works ok...but I found some stuff that works twice as good -
Won't harm plastics, but still strong enough to eat off your fingerprints and the weak paint around the battery tray.
Tire shine works well afterwards...

Course you could also dilute the simple green, thats what I have done before..
Check this out, I found it on another forum:
Check this out, I found it on another forum:
Simple Green products have been successfully and safely used on aircraft, automotive, industrial and consumer aluminum items for over 20 years. However, caution and common sense must be used: Aluminum is a soft metal that easily corrodes with unprotected exposure to water. The aqueous-base and alkalinity of Simple Green or Crystal Simple Green can accelerate the corrosion process. Therefore, contact times of All-Purpose Simple Green and Crystal Simple Green with unprotected or unpainted aluminum surfaces should be kept as brief as the job will allow - never for more than 10 minutes. Large cleaning jobs should be conducted in smaller-area stages to achieve lower contact time. Rinsing after cleaning should always be extremely thorough - paying special attention to flush out cracks and crevices to remove all Simple Green/Crystal Simple Green residues. Unfinished, uncoated or unpainted aluminum cleaned with Simple Green products should receive some sort of protectant after cleaning to prevent oxidation.

I will have to try that then...
Since the Runner is still on jack stands...
And is cool (don't worry been starting it every other day to make sure engine is still in running order...)
So I will hav eot do that...
It really needs it....
And since I am OCD (not litterally but yeah...)
It will feel good to finally have the entire thing cleaned...
(even though probably 3-4 days later it will be back in the mud....

Did you dilute it at all?
And I have seen the black magic can....
Just have been to worried to do the job myself...
Thinking of taking it to a detailer...
But now that I see I can get a detail job done myself...
It shall be done..
