1999 4Runner 50k Miles

I have a 1999 4runner that only has 50k miles and already need a new motor.

Anybody suggest a place to get a used or very well rebuilt motor? I live in northern california.

I found a lot of posts on craigslist by this company MotorTime or Motor Time. Has anybody had any good experience with them? So far I only read 1 bad comment about this place on this fourm saying that their motor tends to burn oil rapidly.

Thanks in advance for your help guys!

--mods, sorry if i posted this in the wrong section.

best bet is to find a shop who's willing to find a junkyard motor(tons of 3.4 V6's out there, fewer 2.7 4cyl) for you and do the engine swap, with warranty(some kind). basically if something goes wrong, you will only need to talk to one guy which is the shop. i've had personal expirence with the shop blaims the parts were the problem and the parts guy blaims the shop guy didn't do the job right, lose lose situation.

back in los angeles, i have a co-worker bought a brand new 2000 Sienna van, as far as i know for sure, till Nov. of 2008, it has totally of 48000 miles. she drives from home to her son's school(used to be daycare), her work in totally of 1.5 miles. she drives really mildly, never floors it, oil changed at dealer every 6 months, but i can tell ya, that motor sounded like had 350k miles on it.

Driving just 1.5 miles is extremely hard on an engine. As a result, the engine never reaches optimal operating temperatures. For 1.5 miles I'd ride a bicycle to work.
