Very Strange Gearing / Tire Calculations
First, I want to say that I have searched and read A LOT, but the posts I've been reading mainly address 4runners with A/T.
I have a 2.7L 5spd I just regeared to 4.30 from 3.58. With 30s I'm screaming down the highways, so I'm looking at what tire size would bring me closer to stock (also to get the speedo back to normal). According to all the tire/gearing charts, I should be running a 33. In fact, using this formula I would actually still be overgeared with 33s (new tire size/old tire size X old gear = new gear... It's telling me to run 4.18!).
Also, I know that size isn't the only issue, since weight and increased footprint play into the equation, but how much no one is saying.
So, the question is, would I be making a huge mistake by running 33s on my truck? Will it feel like stock or be dragging its butt? How many of you guys have tried 33X10.50s with 4.30s with a M/T 4 cyl?

I've heard that the A/T's like the higher gears. My cousin has a 2002 Tundra, he's runnin 4.56 with 35"s and swears its the money setup.
I drive an 02 tacoma, stock 4.30 gears M/T 4cyl with 33"s and it does ok, but if I spent money on gears it would be 4.88's hands down. I would say get some 31's or 32's for the 4.30's, but 33's will work with this setup. my speedo is right on as well

Yep, that's what I figured, "ok" but not great.
I should also mention that this is my daily driver and 99% of the time I'm driving it around town or on the highway. That's why I'm leaning toward the 33s.

I don't think you should run 33's on 4.30s.
I ran 33X10.5 BFG muds on stock 4.10's and my truck was a turd. Could barely make it up some passes in 4th. And 4.30's aren't much of a difference.
Personally I think you should go with a 32" tire in an All Terrain style tire. Keep the tires light
Oh, and I run 5.29's on my truck with said 33" muds. Wouldn't have it any other way. Wish they made 5.71's for our front 7.5 clam shell. Would have gone with those and stepped it up to 35's sooner then planned.
Look into speedometer calibrators if the new tires don't bring the speedo back to stock.

I'm really really leaning toward the 33s.... as I think everyone would when presented with the option.

I have to say my 2.7L does pretty well with 4.30's and 33's. Not saying "its the shizznit" but I'm fortunate to not have the 4.10's.
Again, not saying this is ideal, I wish I had the $$ to re gear. I have a complete E-locker axle just sitting there too...don't really know what to do with it since its 4.10's though....
It does fine, my DT is pretty stock. Intake and exhaust, I don't really consider those mods though.

OK, let's suppose I go with 32X11.5. Can I fit those without a lift? (Saving money). Also, I was told that a 1/4" spacer will work on the hub. Does that sound correct?
