trying to guess expected mpg from potential 4runner purchase

So i am looking at getting a 89 4runner. From the ad it is a 89 6 inches of lift and 35s.

I texted him and he said the motor is a 2.4 4cylinder..

I don't know the specifics of like what gearing , if its auto or manual yet, but the guy texted me back that mpg is around 25-35. Just trying to figure out what I can expect from it if that is possible. What do you guys think?

You need to find out what gears it has and whether its manual or automatic, otherwise we can`t really help you because there is not enough information.

25-35? Hahahha yeah right. no way. From the factory, 1st gens were rated at no more than 25 hwy. Add 35" tires (taller, probably 12.5" wide at least so more surface area=more friction), lift ("higher" in the air stream= more drag) and being 22-23 years old, its not going to be getting much, if at all, over 20 hwy. Especially if its an Auto.

The guy is high.
Maybe 21 on the highway.
Figure 15-16 around town.
A 4runner with a 6 inch lift has the aerodynamics of an outhouse. You don't buy a lifted truck and worry about mpg IMO.
