tire rubbing question
I've been a member on this forum for a while but this is my first post. I have a 2001 4runner limited 4x4. I recently installed 16" procomp 8069 and I'm running 265/75 firestone destination at's. I had the tires previously on the stock wheels and there was no issue with rubbing, but when I had them mounted on my new wheels, they rub a lot, especially making tight turns in parking lots. I guess my question is will a lift take care of this issue?

they are 16x8 and they have 4" of backspacing. they rub on the front corner and rear. I have seen other members on here that have the same rims and have heard of no issues. Would a lift alleviate the problem?

Yes i would say the rim sticks out farther there for when you turn the wheel and tire itself makes a long sweep making the tire hit... a lift should take care of it and/or a body lift. Just to let you know i put on 1.5" wheel spacer to clear my nitto's and with out the spacer the 3'' lift was fine but after the spacers and an extra 2'' body lift they still hit because of the spacers. Same thing probably with yours just smaller scale.

ya bc the 265/75s are a bit larger than stock (265/70s) so they rub because the rim is 8" wide instead of the stock 7" and the backspacing puts the rim .5" outwards. So ur sticking out about a total of 1.5"... this is wats causing the prob

dang ISfast... i planned on getting some 1.5" wheel sapcers for my 285/75s so that they wouldnt rub the upper arm (doesnt rub but is really close) but apparently ur having a prob so i guess ill just have to do without. Though i do plan to run a 2-3" body lift and some 35s when i can scavenge up the money...
